Learning To Fly

Sometimes it takes an outsider to help you see things more clearly, a fresh look from a new set of eyes. I remember back in high school I would spend hours even days making sure I had everything perfect only to get it turned back to me with a big fat C- written across the top. Sometimes when you spend a long time on something, and you look at it every day, you stop noticing mistakes you may make along the way. This is also true with blogging, as is the case with mine. I have been blogging for quite a while and I have failed to step back and take a fresh look at it every once in a while. Someone, who’s opinion I hold very highly, has recently pointed this out to me and I decided to look at my blog again for the first time. I looked at my blog as if I were someone who has never seen it before. After doing this I realized, as my friend put it, I am all over the place here. Some of it, not all, has a little to do with my recent adventure with tumblogging. I have well written entries and then some random videos, then some random thoughts. I am not being to consistent with my content here. It can be pretty confusing and fairly hard to follow, I need to do something about this.

I really want this to be the best possible blog it can be, so logically there has to be some changes. There are a few things that I will be doing and cease to be doing, I want this to be a place that is easier for you to follow. I will cut back on the random videos and thoughts, which will hopefully make it more pleasing to you. I have already begun to delete old posts that make no sense what-so-ever. And I will also be focusing the subject of my blog. I advertise this as a personal blog, however, it consists more of my thoughts about things that are important to me. So this may cause me to take this to a different direction, besides personal. This just may be a blog for my commentary. Anyway, I am very excited about this. If this doesn’t make sense to you right now, I know it will very shortly here. So everyone at once say “Goodbye Random Junk”!

If this page looks a little weird that means you're using IE, why not download Firefox or Opera? You'll be glad you did.

Dont worry I always check my brain out before I enter in your blog:) So , yeah in that respect I am not sure what you mean but as long as it makes you enjoy this blogging adventure of sorts better, it is all good.

Now where did I put this brain of mine…. on the coat hanger…? in the wardrobe…? Hmmm… this could be a challenge….:)

It is interesting to witness the evolution of your blog with time I must admit.

Well, Let me try to explain. My site as it is now, is a mix between a few different styles, which can be confusing to subscribers. I want to make this easier to read, and my readers will know what to expect. There will be fewer random videos of by theme selves and more well thought out posts. These posts will be more of my thoughts on different issues. You will just have to trust me on this :)

Bring on the TCRA mayhem I am eager to see what you are planning to do!

That is something that I have never thought to do with my blog, stand
back and look at it from a visitors point of view as such… I think
that it is good that you have done that, it definitely allows you to see
    where you can improve.

I think that I ought to also take some things away from what you have
said here as I too believe that I am not consistent. Thanks for getting
me to think about my blog, I will go away and have a good long think
about it and see how I can improve mine.

I think that it is good, though, that you’re continually looking to
improve your blog, I suppose that is all a part of blogging isn’t it.

It was definitely important to inform your readers of what changes are
going on around here, you regularly do, though, but I am glad that you
have this time :-) , it sounds like things are going to get even better
here :-) . I look forward to the changes ahead.

Thanks Aidan. I am not sure I see what you mean by your site being inconsistent though. I think you are very consistent with your style. That is something I actually am quite jealous of. You seemed to find your niche rather early on, it took me quite a while.

This is really interesting Nick. I think there is a lot of this going on at the moment. I’m a bit stuck of what to do with my blog. I don’t feel like it has any real direction at the moment. My posting has been sporadic, but the considered thoughts don’t really seem to be there, it’s more links at the moment.

I’m in the process of starting to step back and look at my blog. What I’ve been writing about and what I want to write about. Hopefully it will result in a more focused Electric Weekend.

One thing I want to say to you. Please don’t delete the older posts. I think it’s really important to see how a blog has grown and matured, they may not be the direction you want to go now, but they are an important part of this blog.

Phil, Good luck with that! It can be a bit hard at first but you’ll figure it out :) Unfortunately I deleted some of my older posts that were just plain confusing.

Excellent decision to have more focused content, in my opinion…

And I like the new look, too.
