When Everything Blows Up

When everything seems to blow up, you know you are doing something right.

Two larger things have happened recently in my relationship with Christ;
1. Jenny and I decided to (quote un-quote) give everything up to him, and truly seek after his will for our lives.
2. I became an elder of our church.

These two things are huge in our lives right now, both with each other and with God. We know we are on the right track right now, mainly because satan is attacking the crap out of us. Things are happening left and right that just makes me doubt myself. I start beating myself up saying that I am not qualified, I am not the spiritual leader I should be, I am not going to do a good job. But God keeps whispering, “Nick, keep going”. I am getting great encouragement through friends and family, and most of all, my wife. God knows what he’s doing, he does have everything under control, both in the good times and in the crap awful times. I just need to remind myself of this from time to time.

When everything blows up I need to trust him, when everything is perfect I need to trust him. All too often I only find myself running to him when I “need” him, I only mutter the words “he is in control” when things are looking grim. But when things are going well, it’s all about me. God is always, ALWAYS, in control. I am not an elder because of my good looks (though it is a plus), I am an elder because God wants me there. I have something to offer. God was in control when the members of the church raised their hands and voted me in. So take this as you will, but remember, God is in control, always.

  1. Nick, all I can say to all this is a resounding, Amen, and congrats on being appointed elder. I have been in churches all my life and I have never heard of one your age being appointed elder. It certainly shows wisdom on the part of Pastor Mike and the congregation, and that good looks don’t hurt either,lol!
    blessings,
